Bio

Anatoly Suzdaltsev is a visual artist and photographer. Born in 1980 in South Ural, present time based in Almaty, Kazakhstan. He is a student at the Academy of documentary and art photography, Fotografika.

Anatoly creates enigmatic worlds by blending documentary and art photography, weaving together objective reality with imaginative narratives and characters.

Anatoly’s works has been selected in festivals and group exhibitions “Rotterdam Photo Festival 2024” (Netherlands), “Night Photography 2023” (Greece), nominated at «BBA One Shot Award 2023″ (Germany) and featured as an Editors’ Picks at “LensCulture — Black And White Photography Awards 2023» and as a Finalist Gomma Grant 2023.

Artist Statement

Anatoly creates enigmatic worlds by blending documentary and art photography, weaving together objective reality with imaginative narratives and characters. He photographs on 35mm film while simultaneously experimenting with video generation, merging classical and contemporary techniques, basic reality and otherworldly vision. His primary area of interest revolves around people, their passions and environments, and the interplay between individuals and the world, both in reality and within the realms of surreal narratives.
